This is not a commercial offer – you don’t have to pay anything to join us!
We just have a personal tip for you, not a business deal. You’re absolutely not expected to pay us – but if you’re interested, you’re warmly invited to come along!
On Saturday, August 16, a truly special event will take place in Central Switzerland – and if you love traditions, cows, and mountains, you won’t want to miss it!
It’s the Bodäfahrt on the Urnerboden, where more than 1,000 cows return from the high alpine pastures to the Urnerboden, Switzerland’s largest alpine grazing area. They’ll spend the next month there, and this traditional descent is a wonderful celebration of Swiss rural culture.
The Urnerboden lies at around 1,450 metres above sea level, just east of the Klausen Pass. It’s a breathtaking alpine plateau, home to over 50 alpine farms during the summer – and right in the middle of it is a charming little village, part of the municipality of Spiringen, where people live year-round.
We’re travelling there on Friday and have booked a place to stay overnight right on the Urnerboden. You might want to do the same – just call ahead and ask for an available bed ( www.gasthaus-urnerboden.ch )
But of course, an overnight stay isn’t necessary – you can also arrive early on Saturday morning. And you’re free to join us or explore on your own 🙂 – but if you like, we can spend the day together, start with breakfast, watch the “cow parade,” and maybe enjoy some time in the festival tent afterwards.
However you choose to experience it – you are always welcome with us!
For the past 21 years, we’ve been organizing free hikes and excursions across Switzerland. No costs, no obligations. We don’t offer guided tours – just shared experiences in nature with old and new friends from around the world (and plenty of locals too!). www.wanderforum.ch
We’re Paul (from England) and Sabine (from Germany).
